One Small Drink

He said he had but one small drink,
He said he had no more
He said that he could drive us home
As he walked out the door.
And now because we trusted him
And let him drive the car
We didn't make it home
We didn't make it far.
If he wasn't drunk
Or we didn't let him drive
All of us and many others
Would still be here alive.
I'll never see my family again
I never got to say goodbye
And once again it was drinking and driving
That caused more people to die.
